Remember to start your game on PC if you haven't played in a while, so it can update the save file to the new version and save again. Balorin Member. Convert PC Saves to Switch vice versa I accidentally stumbled unto this, and it's relatively easy to do, so I figured with the lack of public knowledge on how to do this that I'd provide a simple instructional step by step tutorial on how to Convert your own Stardew Valley save between versions.
Now I'd write a full propper guide if this wasn't literally dragging, and dropping like anyother Save Guide, so I'll just leave it up to you guys, and google to figure out how to extract a save using either Checkpointor the aforementioned Y'allAreNuts. Before its release, we hadn't seen too much in this particular field of games that caught the eye of the general public. If you've played the game on your computer through Steam in the past, you might be interested in checking it out for mobile now that it recently launched on Android. You would also then be curious to know if your save file would be able to transfer over to the mobile version as well.
It doesn't by default, but this guide will show you what you need to do to transfer the save file from your computer to your phone.
As long as you still have the saved game on your computer from the last time you played, it'll be pretty straightforward to locate. If you already know the save file isn't there anymore — for instance, if you uninstalled the PC game — you'll have to download the game from Steam again, but then it will automatically retrieve your save data from the cloud.
To move this save data over to your phone, you'll need to first locate the Stardew save folder on your computer. Once you've located it, you'll then need to copy the folder and move it over to your phone. Below, I'll show you how to find this folder on all three major desktop operating systems. The name of the folder should match your character name, so it should sound pretty familiar to you.
If you have multiple characters or save files, you will see a folder for each one of them. In the text field, paste in the command below, then hit the enter key.
This will open an Explorer window, where you can simply copy the save folder. All you have to do is open Finder, click on "Go" in the menu bar at the top of the screen, and then "Go to Folder. Simply head into "Files," then "Go," and finally "Enter Location. Now you want to connect your Android phone to your computer so you can transfer the save file. Mount your phone's internal storage to your computer like you normally would through a USB cable.
Now, use your computer to navigate to the root of your phone's internal storage or SD card — in most situations, this will be the first folder that opens when you browse your phone's storage from your computer. If you're not sure whether you're in the right folder, look for other folders named "Android," "Movies," and "Pictures," as these are default folders stored in the root of every phone's internal storage.
Next, you might have to create a folder named "StardewValley" if you haven't started a new game on your phone yet. Once you've done that, just copy the saved game folder from your computer and paste it into the "StardewValley" folder on your phone's storage.
That's all there is to it, nothing complicated here! The next time you fire up Stardew Valley on your phone and load a save file, you should see the one you just transferred from your computer.Joinsubscribers and get a daily digest of news, geek trivia, and our feature articles. You can open this folder by launching File Explorer, pasting the address into the address bar, and then pressing Enter.
Each subfolder in the Saves folder represents a single character. For example, you can create a new character on your iPad and play it on the go, and then transfer it to your PC. Or, you could copy a character from your PC to your iPhone, play for a while, and then transfer it back to your PC to continue.
You can get your save file off your device from here. Just use the Files app to copy saves off your device, and then use iTunes to copy them back onto another device. Just connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and drag and drop a character folder out of the Stardew Valley Documents section. In other words, to get save files onto a device, you have to use iTunes.
And, to get save files off of a device, you have to use the Files app.
Can I transfer all my game saves/data off one account to another?

Pietoro View Profile View Posts. Steam has a cloud save functionality, but you could do that manually too via USB, I imagine. Im such a noob with this stuff. Tweak View Profile View Posts. I've never really used cloud save.
The one time I really needed it, I found out that it wasn't automatic. So you probably have to manually back up the game in order to use the cloud. Last edited by Tweak ; 13 Jul, pm. On a Windows PC, you will find them on:. You can open this folder by launching the File Explorer, pasting the address into the address bar, and then pressing Enter.
Each subfolder in the Records folder represents a single character. The name of the folder begins with the name of your Stardew Valley character, followed by a random number. If you have multiple characters, you will see several separate folders, one for each character. To transfer backups, iTunes must be installed. On a Mac, it is already included. You will be prompted to let your computer access the information on your device if it is the first time you connect it to iTunes on that computer.
On your iPhone or iPad, you will need to unlock your device. If you've already trusted your PC or Mac in the past, you can skip this part and the device will be immediately available in iTunes.
After the connection is established, click the device icon on the toolbar in the upper-left corner of the iTunes window. You are now finished. For example, you can create a new character on your iPad and play it on the go, then transfer it to your PC. Or, you can copy a character from your PC to your iPhone, play for a moment, then transfer it to your PC to continue.
If you want to move your Stardew Valley backups from one iPhone or iPad to another, you can do this via iTunes file sharing. Simply connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and drag a character file out of the Stardew Valley Documents section. You now have a folder containing backup data for your iPhone or iPad.
You can even save it if you want. You can try playing with iTunes in Some wine but we have not tested it and do not recommend it.
If official instructions from Stardew Valley recommend doing so with iTunes, you can also do it directly on your iPhone or iPad with the Files app and a cloud file storage service. You will see a separate folder for each Stardew Valley character you have.
You can back up your backups and move them from one device to the other. For example, you can copy the folder to iCloud Drive or Dropbox, and then put it back in the Stardew Valley folder on another device.Joinsubscribers and get a daily digest of news, geek trivia, and our feature articles. Stardew Valley, the smash hit indie farming simulation role-playing game, is the kind of game players get quite attached to after sinking a lot of time into their farms, their relationships with the characters, and building their skills.
It has a one-and-done save slot like an old school Nintendo game. Every single time you go to bed in the game, your old game save slot is overwritten with the new game save. With that in mind, there are three kinds of game save backups a Stardew Valley player should worry about, depending on their needs and play style:.
Stardew Valley is the kind of game you invest significant time into—it takes roughly 26 hours of real-world time to advance through the first in-year game. Note: If you purchased the game through Steam and have not manually disabled Steam Cloud file saving then every time you exit the game while your computer is online, a new copy of the save game is uploaded to the Steam servers.
Players who purchased the game from outside of Steam and are playing it without activating it on Steam—or Steam players who simply wish to have multiple backups—need to manually backup their game saves. That game save folder is located at the following places in different operating systems:. Inside the folder you will find one sub folder for each of your Stardew Valley characters if you only have one character there will only be one folder. Just back that entire folder up however you wish—copy it to a flash drive for safe keeping, schedule regular incremental backups with your favorite backup app, etc.
In addition to backing things up for safe keeping, you can also take advantage of an undocumented trick. In the screenshot below, we have our main game save as well as a copy of our main game save made at a point in the past. While most people simply play their game straight through, this trick allows you to create a fall back point, or even play dual timelines where the timeline diverges for your character at a critical point in the game. Regardless of your motivation for backing up your game save, as long as you do so, your masterful work-in-progress farm will always be safe—come modding disaster or hard drive failure.
